On moving into an apartment with her husband Guy, Rosemary begins to experience creepy things happening to her. However, when she gets pregnant she realizes that her fears are about to come true.

Rosemary’s Baby has something for everyone- the art horror geek, the casual viewer and the social commentary hunter. It’s one of those movies which divides the world into people who’ve seen it and people who haven’t.

The Thing (1982) – Best Horror Movies of All time

At ninth spot, we chose “The Thing (1982) ” in our list of Top 10 Best Horror Movies of All time.

A research team finds an alien being that has fallen from the sky and is starting to hunt them down. Things take a sinister turn when they realise that the creature can take the shape of its victims.

The Thing is not only a brilliant remake(which I was not expecting after seeing abominations such as Psycho and The Wicker Man) but it is also a brilliant film that seamlessly blends horror and sci-fi amongst other things.

The atmosphere is especially what makes the movie so good. To this day, very few other movies have shocked, haunted or unnerved me as much as The Thing.

The scenery, sets and costumes are eye-popping and the effects are brilliantly designed and suitably grotesque without distracting too much.

When a giant white shark fatally attacks swimmers on the shores of Amity Island, Sheriff Martin Brody teams up with a marine biologist and a local fisherman to hunt down the creature.

Highly considered to be one of the greatest, scariest and most influential films of all time, Jaws is not only the film that made Steven Spielberg into a household name, it also changed the way Hollywood promoted its films, pioneering the summer blockbuster cinema and establishing the modern Hollywood business model. It also inspired three sequels, but won’t talk about them for now.

Sixth Sense(1999)- Best Horror Movies of All time

At seventh spot, we chose “Sixth Sense(1999) ” in our list of Top 10 Best Horror Movies of All time.

Cole Sear, a troubled child, is gifted with a unique power to communicate with the dead. He consults an equally disturbed psychologist, Dr. Malcolm Crowe, to help him out of this strange problem.

The Sixth Sense is a horror-thriller directed by M.Night Shyamalan who proves that, when he wants, he can come up with unique, creative ideas that challenge the idea of being and living. In terms of script, the film is perfect – the way it is structured is a clever one that makes you constantly pay attention to what is happening on screen.

Aliens(1979) Best Horror Movies of All time

At sixth spot, we chose “Aliens(1979)” in our list of Top 10 Best Horror Movies of All time.

The crew of a spacecraft, Nostromo, intercept a distress signal from a planet and set out to investigate it. However, to their horror, they are attacked by an alien which later invades their ship.

Alien is a classic space horror movie not to be missed. Everything (mostly) is convincing, from the characters to the spaceships, and it’s not the least bit pretentious. I watched it when it was released in 1979 and found it thoroughly enjoyable with one hundred percent seat-edge suspense from start to finish, and it’s just as enjoyable today.

It was an absolute blast to watch.

Six-year-old Michael kills his teenaged sister Judith in 1963 on Hallowe’en night. He spends 15 years in a mental hospital.

A set of events in 1978 leads to his escape. A killing spree begins.

Halloween (1978) is an iconic horror masterpiece that continues to haunt and terrify audiences decades after its release. From the chilling music score that perfectly sets the tone for suspense, to the unforgettable characters that have become staples in horror culture, this film truly delivers on all fronts.

The Silence of the Lambs (1991) – Best Horror Movies of All time

At fourth spot, we chose “The Silence of the Lambs (1991)” in our list of Top 10 Best Horror Movies of All time.

Clarice Starling, an FBI trainee, seeks help from Hannibal Lecter, a psychopathic serial killer and former psychiatrist, in order to apprehend another murderer who has been claiming female victims.

The silence of the lambs is a psychological with a gripping tale which inspires suspense amongst its watchers. Seriously, when I began to watch the movie, it started out dull but it eventually picks up.

Clarice sterling, acted by Jodie Foster is an example of a terrific work. Her past and her down the memory lane sort of like shows you a new perspective to how something or person or incident can affect one.

Anthony Hopkins acting as Hannibal Lector is honestly a refreshing addition to one’s life. His voice is mesmerizing and there are particular moments that run chills down your spine.

Overall, the silence of the lambs is a must watch for any one who finds an interest in psychological tales that have an albeit morbid but classical twist to it.

3. The Exorcist (1973)

The Exorcist (1973) Best Horror Movies of All time

At third spot, we chose “Arcane(2021-Present)” in our list of Top 10 Best Horror Movies of All time.

An actress notices dangerous changes in the behavior and physical make-up of her 12-year-old daughter. Meanwhile, a young priest begins to doubt his faith while dealing with his mother’s sickness.

The “Queen Mother” of all horror films. Released in 1973 to a much less de-sensitized audience than today’s movie goers, this based-on-a-true-story shocked (and even made physically ill) ticket buyers who had no idea what they were about to witness.

The Exorcist is simply a masterpiece. Great Cinematography darkens the atmosphere and a superb screenplay enhances the dialogue. There is plenty of excellent actors in this film as well. Loads of great performances from actors such as: Linda Blair, Ellen Burstyn, Jason Miller, Max von Sydow.

I pressure you to see the re-edited one. Trust me, it’s not a remake. It’s a better editing of sound and picture, and even some NEW footage that is of the same quality.

Overall, you may enjoy it but not that much maybe because we have watched a lot of movies of this type. It is considered a masterpiece as it was great when we see it considering that it is 1973 movie and not 2010s.

2. The Shining (1980)

The Shining (1980) – Best Horror Movies of All time

At second spot, we chose “The Shining (1980)” in our list of Top 10 Best Horror Movies of All time.

Jack and his family move into an isolated hotel with a violent past. Living in isolation, Jack begins to lose his sanity, which affects his family members.

A horror film ahead of its time Mr. Kubrick does a fantastic job at delivering suspense, a thorough and enjoyable plot and an explanation as to why the hotel makes its caretakers go insane by the use of mentioning the hotel is built on an Indian burial ground.

Stanley Kubrick shows his finesse and excellence as a artist as well as the director.

I don’t think a masterpiece like this could be made without thorough consideration and introspection of the characters sketched by Stephen King himself.

1. Psycho(1960)

Psycho(1960) Best Horror Movies of All time

Hands down, “Psycho(1960)”is by far the best horror movie ever made and tops the list of Top 10 Best Horror Movies of All time.

Marion disappears after stealing money from her employer. Her lover and sister try to find her and end up reaching the infamous Bates Motel, where they meet Norman Bates.

If perfect movies ever existed, “Psycho” is definitely one of them. It was filmed in 1960 and it is still considered to be one of the most terrifying movies of all time. Yes, there are not any perfectly detailed, scary sceneries (especially for those who have watched modern horror/thriller films), yet the storyline is scarier and more uncanny than most of the modern movies. The acting is flawless and Alfred Hitchcock created nothing but a miracle.

Psycho is an absolute classic horror. The fact that it was made in 1960 is amazing.
Hitchcock managed to bring so much suspense and horror into it.

The shower scene is so, so well made and there’s some really interesting facts behind that scene like they used Hershey’s chocolate syrup for the blood and that is apparently why Hitchcock wanted to make the film in black and white so they would have that effect for the blood according too Google.

It is a brilliant film and for all people out there who hasn’t watched Alfred Hitchcock’s psycho, 1960, I would give it ago.
It is so worth watching. I just finished it about an hour ago and would definitely watch it again.

Norman bates really managed to be really innocent but at the same time he can really slip that emotion away and suddenly becomes this crazy person (psycho) like when Marion suggested that Mrs. bates should go (some place)

The words for this movie fall flat, but this movie is a must-watch for all the people who are into cinema, whether horror or thriller is their preferred genre.
